Zahumensky quits

Štátny tajomník ministerstva pôdohospodárstva Marián Záhumenský Controversial deputy agriculture minister Zahumensky has resigned, only four days after receiving Mr Fico's (and, allegedly, the EU's) full support. Over the weekend, the opposition had continued to pick at the government's explanation of his conduct and fresh scandals had emerged this week of Zahumensky going hunting in nature reserves without paying the appropriate SKK 300 000 fees. He looks forward to spending more time with his sheep.

Zsolt Simon of the SMK said "Bwahahaha!" (actually he said he was glad that the truth had come out, but I think my translation captures the spirit of the remark if not the letter).

Robert Fico refused to comment and went to sulk in his room. Probably a bit tired and emotional.

This is utterly irrelevant news of course. Only relevant if you want to indulge in schadefreude as Fico has a pretty inexhaustable supply of bumpkins to replace him with.

Re : Fico wants to take money from future pensioners.

" This looks pretty much like Mr Fico wants to have an avenue in place to be able to hide some state borrowing before or around the envisaged euro introduction come 2009. " Oscar
