Happy Halloween, readers!

Halloween lantern 2006

Don't worry, it's only a pumpkin, or is it.....? BwahahaHA... I have no shame about participating in cultural imperialism. On this theme, I found this article about the economics of Halloween interesting.

All i have to say is:
Woolworths and the rest of the corporate retail chain mafia want to make us spend more and more of our money so we get more and more in debt

they can go and drown...they and their stupid franchises. We should all have a reality check about what we are doing with our lives and how we spend the little time we have on earth.

buying chinese shit so these morons can have quarterly meetings in which they meet their pathetic little targets I will not.
If i have to turn into a hippy so be it.

Here is Macko's list of the important things in life

your wife/girlfriend
a roof over your head without getting loans
essentials (it does not include car)
a pension
travelling
meeting good friends
holidays that are long

Polonius:
And these few precepts in thy memory
See thou character. Give thy thoughts no tongue,
Nor any unproportioned thought his act.
Be thou familiar, but by no means vulgar.
Those friends thou hast, and their adoption tried,
Grapple them to thy soul with hoops of steel;
But do not dull thy palm with entertainment
Of each new-hatch'd, unfledged comrade. Beware
Of entrance to a quarrel, but being in,
Bear't that the opposed may beware of thee.
Give every man thy ear, but few thy voice;
Take each man's censure, but reserve thy judgment.
Costly thy habit as thy purse can buy,
But not express'd in fancy; rich, not gaudy;
For the apparel oft proclaims the man,
And they in France of the best rank and station
Are of a most select and generous chief in that.
Neither a borrower nor a lender be;
For loan oft loses both itself and friend,
And borrowing dulls the edge of husbandry.
This above all: to thine ownself be true,
And it must follow, as the night the day,
Thou canst not then be false to any man.
Farewell: my blessing season this in thee!

It's a horrible cliche to write "It'll all be different when you have kids" but I suspect it's true.

Of course you can do Halloween without tons of Chinese tat and the children really enjoyed making that lantern but it took hours and the children also like to collect instant proof of... affection ... (or triumph?). So Chinese tat works its way in.

"Field of Dreams" works for Tesco. If they build it we will come. If it's there we'll buy it. Sheeple.

The blood sucking, neck hang leech here ;-)))

Did you run the lantern via the face check by any chance ?

How strange to get a link from Zilina, where I've been, unlike just about everyone else in the UK. I was on the way to hike the Vratna valley. Great place.

Thanks for making me think happy thoughts.
